November 2006

 Greetings, Members!

Once again, we can look back on a sold-out “Weinlesefest”.  The Euro-Connections, who provided the music, really know how to entertain and kept us on our toes.  I hope we have them back on another occasion.

Also behind us is the membership meeting, which took place on November 19th.  I was pleased with the good turnout.  The entire meeting went smoothly, and I got the impression that the members are well satisfied with the Executive.

A reminder that the membership fees are now due, as there are still some people who have not yet paid.  Please call Käthe Pfeffer at 905-389-1070 to make arrangements.

We welcome the following new members and wish them lots of fun in our midst:

  • Siegfried Hoffmann

  • Anna & Dave Patullo

  • Joan & Martin Kling

A final reminder for the Children’s Christmas Party on December 3rd.  The doors will open at 1:00 p.m. and a magician will provide entertainment starting around 1:30 p.m.  We would ask that the parents and grandparents again provide a donation of cookies or cake.

Our Choir invites you to their Christmas Concert to be held on December 17th.  Doors open at 1:45 p.m. and the concert will begin at 3:00.  As usual, coffee and cake will be available.

We would like to point out an error on the small events calendar, (the one you received with your membership card), for 2007.  The April Dance will be held April 14th, not April 7th.  We wanted to give lots of notice to avoid disappointment.

The Next meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary will take place on November 29th, at 1:00 p.m.  New members are always welcome; please call Helga Schopf  at 905-664-6254 with any questions.

Happy Birthday to all those who celebrate this occasion in November and were not at the Weinlesefest to hear us sing it in person !

The club is in urgent need of a cook.  This is a paid position.  If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be, please call Arno Risse at 905-528-5245 to discuss the details.

The Executive is busy planning a fantastic New Years’ Eve Dance.  The menu follows, but we would like to also accommodate those who prefer a meat alternative.  If you would prefer vegetarian fare and have tickets, please notify us by December 10th (either at 905-527-1256 or Sarina Hablitschek at 905-632-2983)and we will do our best to prepare something suitable.

Also, tickets are selling fast; please call Anneliese Höpp at 905-634-8918 for New Years’ tickets, as this occasion is sold out quickly every year.

Here is the New Years’ Eve Menu !

  • Smoked Salmon with capers, followed by a salad.

  • Roast Beef and Roast Pork.

  • Oven roasted potatoes, Baby carrots and French beans.

  • Blueberry Yogurt Torte, coffee or tea.

As usual, there will also be a cold Midnight Buffet.

The Menu for the Hubertuskeller for December will be posted on the Hubertuskeller door.  The Keller is open for your dining pleasure every Friday at 5:00 p.m. but will be closed from December 16th to January 5th.

See You at the Nikolotanz!
