Happy New Year, Members!
Does anyone remember what their New Years’ Resolutions are? Or if they made any? What a wonderful New Years’ Eve Dance we had! As usual, it was a sellout. The band was terrific, especially since they had never played for us before. I look forward to having them back for another event.
I want to start off by apologizing for a BIG mistake in the last letter. I led everyone to believe we would have a fish dinner on January 5th, and that was not true. I also apologize to Sarina, who had to take all the calls wanting to reserve in advance for this dinner. However, I now know that you really are reading these letters…
The Executive wants to make you aware of the fact that we have a website, http://www.caima.net/CAC.htm (Our club is keeping up with the times). Fritz Bliedung is kindly updating the site on a regular basis, and deserves our thanks. Please advise your friends of this site, since the information in the newsletters will be posted there.
In case one of your resolutions is to join one of our subgroups, here is all the information you need to join up:
The Ladies’ Auxiliary meets on the last Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. The next meeting will be on January 31st. Helga Schopf will be glad to answer any questions at 905-664-6254.
The Fishers & Hunters meet on the first Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Hubertuskeller. New members are sought. Please call Richard Baxant at 905-643-1073 for more details.
The Choir meets for practice every Monday evening at 7:30 p.m., starting again on February 5th. If you enjoyed the Christmas Concert, how about joining up? For more details call Fred Huber at 905-337-2991.
John Cekr wishes to point out a small error in the Movie Schedule. The February 28th date is really February 25th for the Film “Strasse der Lieder”. Any questions you may have regarding the movie program in our club can be answered by John at 905-385-1394.
There are still 53 members who have not yet paid their 2007 membership dues! If you are not able to pay in person on a Friday night, why not just send a cheque to the Club or to Käthe Pfeffer? That way I will not have to put a list in the next letter…
The club is still in urgent need of a cook. This is a paid position. If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be, please call Arno Risse at 905-528-5245 to discuss the details.
We have sad news again. Karl Kruttek, a longstanding member of our club, passed away January 3rd. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
On a happier note, we also wish everyone who had a Birthday in January, Best Wishes and Good Health. Happy Birthday!
